CELEBRATING
PEACEMAKERS
Peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the constructive conditions that lead to happy and productive living. Across cultures and times, many individuals have provided inspiration and action for what peace means.
The New York City Peace Museum will give tangible form to the broad concept of peace, documenting the work that individuals and groups are doing around the world to advocate for human rights, justice, and an end to conflict.
Following the model of peace museums around the world that have a specific focus, the New York City Peace Museum focuses specifically on peace makers.
The Museum will share the stories of famous champions of justice, as well as illuminating lesser-known individuals who are still struggling to end conflicts, whether in a national civil war, or neighborhood turf war.

Believing In Peaceful Living
Peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the constructive conditions that lead to happy and productive living. Across cultures and times, many individuals have provided inspiration and action for what peace means.
OUR VISION
OUR VISION
We envision a world in which people understand and respect each others’ differences; a world in which people live harmoniously with one another; disputes and conflicts are preempted by peaceful overtures, and when they do happen, are settled in win-win fashion.
Our vision is to create a centralized hub for peace activities in the New York area so that people of all ages can learn about the process of peace, become inspired through stories and role models, and find resources for taking action.
We envision a venue that is inspiring to people’s sense of justice in the world, peaceful living in their communities, and harmony within themselves. Our goal is for our visitors to leave our programs, events, and venue with a renewed sense of purpose that people are good, that peaceful resolutions should be attempted, even in the most difficult situations, and inspired to live a more positive life, from small acts of kinds, to a life dedicated to be betterment of humanity.
